How Can Trading Standards Help?
The Trading Standards Institute protects consumers by ensuring that the consumers know and understand their rights as consumers.
They help the consumer in making sure that the products from the trader are of satisfactory quality and that the product lasts for the time you would expect it to and is free of any defects and that the products are fit for purpose and fit for the use described and also that the product matches the description on packaging or what the consumer was told by the trader.
They carry out routine inspections on premises or stores and ask about relevant products or paperwork.
They provide consumers with advice on the procedures of making complaints. They provide consumers with advice on the line of action they can take when they call a trading standard’s helpline. They investigate complaints about the selling of age-restricted products to under aged children and deal with issues which affect everyone, such as falsely described goods as well as other violations.
